There would be many situations in, which your PC may be booting. You would not be able to see any window screen or any kind of desktop pictures too. When you are starting the PC it wheezes out a sound of beep and you are not able to hear anything. You come to know and have a dead PC that is equal to nothing at all. When you cannot start a PC then it becomes tough to know the problem and come for a solution to the problem. You can correct your PC when you see there is some kind of issue with the hard boot of the computer. As soon as you see the screen then you can correct any other issue of the PC but, what to do when your PC does not start? In all the former cases, you can operate your system as soon as your PC starts as you can start in safe mode and then use it as a source to manage your boot. Many times, any of these would not work and then you have to think for something that could help you come out of this situation.

It is not necessary to call a technician to correct this, but you can do it yourself. You just need to be informative enough so that it can help you as how you can get help from many sources. There would be many of the external causes for the issues in your PC too. In fact, many there are small issues inside the computer. Many times, you tend to lose all data as the computer starts having such issues.

Few things need to check when you start on the computer. If you find that, the desktop is not at all working then look at the basic step and that is whether your computer is plugged in or not.

Most of the time, the charge of your computer is not there and you have this issue of your computer not working.

Secondly, you must check out whether your keyboard is connected to your computer, when you switch on your computer. Try to be sure that you have connected the computer to the keyboard. Most of the time you plug in your computer system in the surge system and then there is some issue inside the surge system. It is better to be working out any kind of issue with the surge system.

You must check out what happens when you replace the surge system. You must make sure that your surge system works properly as you get in to the device.

There are also issues inside when you see that the monitor light is blinking but nothing is displayed on monitor. You may see the main switch is on too. Here you need to plug the cable in correct manner so that the working power source gives you direct connection to computer and its window source.

There are other errors that say “System or Disk Error”, which arises whenever you leave any kind of disk in drive A. So make sure that there is no disk in that drive. If there is then try to eject it and restart the computer. When you feel that the computer and the monitor both has power but still the system is not starting then try to restart your system with the help of windows CD ROM. As soon as you see nay OS to start, you must feel that there was something that was made as an issue in the hard disk of the system. If there is no way that you can fix your hard drive then the easy way is to get it replaced.

Some Basic Information: if you look around at some of the main and basic instruction that you should follow then you should never ever try to complain on those issues. The first and very important thing is the power supply. It is the main source of energy for your personal computer and you must look at that perspective that your system is maintained at its level. So juicing up your computer is the main thing that you need to do. Secondly, make it a confirmation point that your sockets are all well and everything is plugged inside the well in good manner. When you find the connection to be fine, make it a point that the wall sockets are all in working condition. You must check out the back of the system too. Most of the power supply is located at the back of your system, so check the portion with its maximum perspective. You have to confirm that the backside of the plugs and everything are connected in good condition.

Many other times you would find issues with the system as when there is nothing inside but its hanging. You may find that your hard drive is in correct operation but you are not able to see anything on the operating system. So what should you do in these cases? The first thing is that you must check whether your computer monitor is on. Monitor’s cable must be plugged in the socket in powerful mode. Hence push up your monitor screen. Checking the back of the monitor along with the main socket will help you find the issues related with the non-functioning of monitor. Another trouble spot for non-functioning of monitor could be from the PC’s video connector. There would be a pair of screws that you can use to make your Video card working in fine condition. You can screw inside them and you will get to know what went wrong. Make sure that your video card and back of monitor are in proper connection.

There may be many hardware hang ups that may be causing your issues with the monitor of the screen. If you find that none of the above mentioned tricks are working then there would be surely some hardware issues that are causing your monitor to work badly. Make yourself tension free and remember throwing your computer would not make any difference. Hence, make sure that you have to work upon the hardware issues in cool manner. If you want a functioning computer then surely you will need to replace some of the hardware parts. You need to understand which part is causing the problem for inactivity of your monitor. You need to pay attention as how to get a working PC. Some times, you find it much easier knowing the fault that is there in your Personal computer. When you see any kind of smokes and other such things with the monitor or your system then you must understand that your computer is not working properly. It may be a situation where you need to have the situation where all other computer parts are silicon toast. Many times the silicon test or hardware tests are not good. It might be tough for you to know, which specific part is not working properly. But you should start from scratch or you must start with the bigger part and then narrow down your searches.

The main issue in hardware that creates problem in starting of your PC is because of PC’s CPU along with the motherboard. You must have a careful investigation in these two important parts as they very frequently create an issue with hardware of your PC. When you find that the issue is with the motherboard, then you might not have to make change the whole mother board, but you must make some changes in the maximum components by taking them out. PCI or Peripheral Component Interconnect is one such component that is there for you to have an option as taking out. This way, you get help to look at all minor things. There may be signs of cracks and other things inside the system. Have a small look at every part of the system. These small holes and cracks also form some kind of damage in your system. There may be some kind of broken pins and these also causes issues with your system start up.

It is frustrating to cure these hardware failures, as much knowledge and hard work is needed in knowing which part is causing you the issues. As soon as you connect all parts in a freshen mode inside your system, this is a time where you need to store back all data that was there on your system. This process is time consuming and you must have a new hard drive where you can store back all your data. This will make your data to be in safe mode. Hard drive is a bit costly too. Then this will help you in protecting your well informed data. There are other issues like bad modules too that makes problem with your system. So keep yourself informed and knowledgeable.

It has had a majority of changes since its first release of Windows 1.0 in the far November of 1983. Of course the first versions didn’t have most of the extras and programs we know today, however, some of the most commonly seen features in today’s Windows operating systems were also interpreted in the first versions of this operating system. Some of these features are:

Calculator

Calendar

Control Panel

Notepad

Paint

Terminal

Clipboard Viewer

Clock

However these are just some of the features, there also others which now known by different names, but still have the same main function. Still these are just the old versions which were mainly used for office purposes, but with time different user written programs and games started to appear and thus the community was able to improve the quality of Windows. Here is an example on how Windows 1.0 looked after its first release: Windows 1.0. Later in the article you will be able to see the progress which Windows operating systems have made.

The future of operating systems: But this time passed long ago and nowadays the Windows XP dominates the operating system markets. However there is a newer version than it which is quite good, but requires a lot of computer resources. This is the Windows Vista. Although this operating is a hungry beast when it comes for system resources, it is still the second most widely used operating system in the world. This hunger for resources comes from the fact that it provides a much more beautiful graphic environment than the ordinary operating systems. It also provides support for many new hardware features which cannot be implemented in other operating systems. Due to this it is expected that Windows Vista will be the new most commonly used operating system, but many people don’t have a computer strong enough to withstand the resource consumption which the Vista performs. However these resources are wisely used and they give you amazingly beautiful 3D windows and tiles. You can see these effects on the internet and here is an example of the Vista Aero graphic environment: Vista Aero graphic environment. Due to this there are many official and unofficial tips on how to improve the performance of your Vista by minimizing or maximizing the graphics quality.

The art of performance boosting – applications and services: There are hundreds of official tips provided by renowned hardware and software companies that explain you how to make your Windows Vista runs faster, but there are also many hints found out by ordinary users, who were more innovative and improvised in order to find the things that can help us. Of course the most common tip for improving Windows Vista performance is also used for any other operating systems you can think of – removing the unnecessary applications which you are running, but not using. This way you will allow the RAM and CPU power to be used for the right purposes, instead of just wasting them on unused applications.

The operating systems which Microsoft produces always have a number of extras and services which aren’t needed by the regular used, but are still running in the background. This is why it is recommended to swiftly search the Internet and find the services which Vista runs and which of them you don’t need. You can go to the services type by going to Start > Run > Type services.msc in the dialog box > Press ok. After this a window containing all the services will pop-up and you can disable each one of them by double clicking on them and then setting the startup type to disabled. Of course you should carefully search for any service you intent to disable, so that you can find out if you need it or not. Here are some examples of services you probably don’t need:

Remote Registry

Secondary Logon

Computer Browser (don’t turn off if you are using computers in your local network)

Tablet PC Input Service (don’t turn off if using a tablet peripheral with your PC!)

Distributed Link Tracking Client

KtmRm for Distributed Transaction Coordinator

There are also many other services which you may disable in order to increase the performance. Services are basically background applications which provide different extras which you probably don’t use, but they still consume resources. By disabling such unused services you will increase the RAM and CPU which are available for the use of applications that you use and require a lot of computer power.

Faster, better, stronger: Many people don’t give the required attention to their hard-drives and their maintenance. However this is a big mistake, because the presence of a lot of unused files that just consume hard-disk space will result in a higher usage of CPU and RAM in order to index and read these files. This is why it is recommended to occasionally clean your hard-disk of unused and unwanted applications which just sit there being useless. If you want to make this even easier you can find the application called CCleaner (Computer Cleaner) which automatically cleans all files that are unused and is much more functional than the integrated Add/Remove features in Windows Vista. Although CCleaner is a simple program here is a video with educational purposes which allow you to see the way that CCLeaner is operated and the function it serves: CCLeaner is operated and the function it serves

Another thing that is important for the overall performance of the computer with Windows Vista is to reduce the number of applications which are executed on start up. This will highly reduce the startup time for the Windows Vista. And it isn’t very hard to do that – you will just have to follow three simple steps:

Click Start > Run > Type msconfig in the dialog box > A new window will pop-up

Go to the Startup Tab that is located in the upper right corner

There you will see all the programs which are executed at start-up – Just disable the auto-load of applications you don’t want and click Ok.

Fragmentation, defragmentation – What’s that!? : Another good tip is the defragmentation of your hard-disk. Hard-disks fragment when you write files which your computer can’t keep together. For example you created a large video file and saved it on your hard-disk. But when you saved it, one part of it went in the beginning of the disk space, while another one went to the end of the disk. This will cause the disk to have problems finding both of the matching pieces and your performance will suffer from that. Defragmentation finds such files and puts them together so that the computer won’t have to torment himself in order to find the files. But in Windows Vista defragmentation has also a bad part – it is scheduled to be automatically run every week. It is usually run at approximately 1am every Wednesday. If you are using your computer at this time you will suffer from low performance. This is why it is recommended to disable automatic defragmentation or just change the time:

Open Windows Task Scheduler

Go to Task Scheduler Library > Microsoft > Windows

Find the Defragmentation Tasks and either disable it or change the time to one that suits you.

If you choose to disable automatic fragmentation, you should manually defragment your hard-drives by going to My Computer > Right click on the disk you want to defragment > Properties > Tools > Defragment Now and the disk will defragment.

Slim down your Vista: Windows Vista comes with a lot of applications which you may not need or just won’t use. This way they will just take hard-disk space without having any purpose. You can either manually remove such applications, which however will take some time and effort or you can just download the software named vLite which will show you a window containing all of the applications that came by default with the Windows Vista. From there you can choose the ones you don’t need and they will be automatically removed. However be careful when doing this, because the process is irreversible and you will need to do a fresh re-install of Vista in order to have the applications again.

Is this all? Of course these are just a small number of the ways you can use to improve the performance of your Windows Vista. There are hundreds of more ways you can find on the Internet and specifically on different forums that discuss Vista. Although Vista is quite a big consumer of computer resources, now you know that all this can be neglected by doing a few small fixes and tweaks that will remove things that you don’t need and you will receive a major boost in performance.

Right after Windows 2000 the Windows XP appeared and quickly made its way up the operating systems ladder, taking more than 90% of the world operating system usage. Windows XP has become the most used operating system and this is due to the low resources it requires to run, but meaningless the low requirements it still offers the user the best security, high-quality services and most, beauty and most importantly – reliability. 99% of the applications have support for Windows XP and this is another reason why it is most widely used. Windows XP is surely the biggest success in the history of Microsoft and this operating system secured their place as the top operating system producer. Although the Windows XP doesn’t require the same amount of resources like the Vista it still has problems with some of the older computers, but Microsoft and a variety of Windows XP users have taken care that we know enough different hints and tips on how to improve the performance of the Windows XP without severely reducing its effectiveness.

The basics of performance increasing: Although Windows XP is the lightest most modern operating system, it also requires some tweaking for it to be able to run smoothly on older computers. Due to this there are hundreds of tips and tricks which guide you on the way to decreasing effects, but increasing the performance of the Windows XP. The thing that mostly increases the performance of the Windows XP is the reducing or fully removing the visual effects produced by the operating systems. Thins includes the removal of any special themes and the activation of the classic Windows 98 theme which is a big performance booster. In order to do that you should go to:

•Open My Computer
•Right click and select Properties
•Choose the Advanced Tab
•Find Performance and click on Settings
•Choose the Visual Effects Tab
•Select “Adjust For Best Performance”

This way you will disable almost all of the special effects used in Windows and improve the performance of the system. The best thing is that this tweak won’t affect the effectiveness and the functionality on your computer. You will only need to get used to the new visual style of your Windows XP. Although it is a simple process, here is a video that thoroughly covers the aspects of the Visual Effects disabling: Disable Visual Effects

In order to turn on the classic Windows 98 Theme: Right click on desktop > Choose Themes tab > On Theme choose Windows Classic > Hit Apply and then Ok. This will revert your default Windows XP theme to the classic theme and you will enjoy a big performance boost.

Maintenance and cleaning: It is highly important to occasionally maintain your computer and check its system and registry for structural or application errors. Of course we will talk about this aspect deeper later in the article. Now it is time to talk about hard-drives. You probably don’t know that each of the partitions on which your hard-disk is divided, works on a different file system. The most commonly used ones in the Windows XP are NTFS and FAT32. Most Windows XP systems have their drives set to FAT32 by default, but this probably results in poorer performance. This is why you should convert all of your partitions to the NTFS file system and enjoy a valuable performance boost. This is not a long process and it doesn’t possess a danger to your information. Here are the simple steps you should follow in order to convert your partitions from FAT32 to NTFS.

•Start > Run
•Type “cmd” in the opened dialog box and press Ok
•Type “convert C: /FS:NTFS” (WITHOUT THE QUOTES!) and hit enter. Wait for the operation to finish and you will have a partition with a NTFS file system.

If you want to change another partition just change the letter “C” to the letter of the partition you want to convert. For instance if you want to convert partition “E”, the command will be “convert E: /FS:NTFS” (WITHOUT THE QUTOES!). Although it isn’t a complex process, here is a video that explains the entire process and also other options about the “convert” command: “convert” command.

It is also very important to keep your system clean from any types of viruses, malware and other potential threats. To do this you should be able to think properly and understand the types of files you open. Don’t always rush to open .exe files, because they may contain a virus. So if you download such a file form an un-trusted location, always make sure to have a proper anti-virus application installed. Also occasionally perform scans with different anti-viruses and anti-spyware/malware applications so that you can keep your system clean from such threats. Spyware and Malware won’t only compromise the security of your system, but they will also reduce the performance.

Registry!? Do you eat this? : Most of the ordinary computer and internet users probably don’t know that there is something in their computer that is called registry. It basically contains information about all of the applications installed on the computer. This information may include configuration, algorithms, functions and others. It is vitally important for the performance of your computer that the registry is properly adjusted and sorted, because you may suffer from poor performance if your registry is overwhelmed and unsorted. However don’t worry if this has happened. There are a lot of programs that automatically clean the registry without having to worry for mistaking something. Some of these programs also have other features and here are some of them:

•CCleaner (Cleans registry and temporary and unneeded files)
•TuneUp Utilities (Cleans registry, temporary and unneeded files and allows you to set various options to improve the performance of your computer under Windows XP)
•RegCleaner (Just cleans and sorts the registry)

Of course there many more programs which offer the same functions, but they aren’t so famous and won’t be as effective as these.

Indexing: Another good thing to do to increase performance is to disable the Indexing Service which Windows XP has enabled by default. The Indexing Service runs constantly and indexes files n your hard-drives so that it can speed up the search process. However this is something which you will need probably once in the month and is useless. It only consumes RAM and CPU power in the background without providing you with any good results. This is why you should turn it off by following these simple steps:

•Open My Computer
•Right click on the partition for which you want to disable the Indexing Service.
•Click Properties
•Remove the mark in front of “Allow indexing service to index this hard drive for faster searching” and then click Ok

This process may take a while to complete, but patiently wait for it to finish, because the results will be worth the wait and you will enjoy another good performance boost. Here is an example video which thoroughly shows you how to do this and increase performance: slow pc tips

Plain speeding up: Many of the people who use Windows XP on older machines probably frequently suffer from long loading of folders. This may be neglected by disabling the automatic search for network folders and printers and the launching of folders in different processes. Here are the simple steps which you should follow to complete that:

•Open My Computer
•Choose Tools > Folder Options
•Choose the View tab
•Uncheck “Automatically search for network folders and printers” and “Launch folders in a separate process”
•Hit Apply and then Ok

And now you have completely disabled these extras and you will be able to swiftly browse through the folders on your computer without experiencing freezing and lagging.

Another thing to do is to turn off different services you may need. Do this by going to:

•Start > Run
•Type services.msc and hit enter
•You will see a new window that lists all the services running on this computer
•Double click on the ones you need and set “Startup type” to Disabled.

However find the purpose of the services you are disabling, because you may turn off something you need.

Nothing more? Of course these are just some of the things you can do in order to speed up your PC running Windows XP. There are hundreds of more things you can do in order to increase the performance of your Windows XP without loosing efficiency and it would take us forever to write all of them in one article. YouTube is a great source for educational videos on how to improve the performance of your Windows XP, but of course be careful when interfering with important Windows XP options, because you may damage your system. There are also thousands of Tech sites that everyday find new ways to improve your Windows XP and allow it to run smoothly run even on the oldest of systems.
