Ubiquity Add-on For Firefox

Ubiquity is a prototype extension that adds an original language command line type interface to simplify your browsing.  For instance, simply bring up the Ubiquity command interface (by default it is ctrl-space) and type “Google Ubiquity”.  It will display a list of the first results without opening a new window.   Say you are browsing the web and don’t understand a word you come across.  Simply highlight the text, invoke the Ubiquity interface and type “define”.   Ubiquity is capable of creating mash-ups of websites that you can share with others through Gmail.  The possibilities are great for this up and coming extension.

A Few Useful Ubiquity Commands:

Highlight – Browsing a web page and want to highlight sections for reference?  Just select the area to highlight, invoke Ubiquity, type “highlight” then press <Enter>.

Translate – If you come across an area of a webpage that is written in a language you are not familiar with?  Simply highlight the text, invoke Ubiquity, type “translate” then press  <Enter>.

Twit –     Browsing and you want to throw up a twitter, invoke Ubiquity and type “twit to” and your twit.
