How To Optimize Your Hard Drive and Registry with CCleaner

There are plenty of system optimizers and registry cleaners out there, but today I will tell you about a great free one called CCleaner. You may remember it was mentioned on this site in a previous article as it is included in the Computer Repair Utility Toolkit, but it is so good it deserves honorable mention on its own.
It is very simple to use and can drastically increase your computers performance. CCleaner can delete all unnecessary temporary files from most browsers including IE, Firefox, Google Chrome and Opera as well as numerous applications such as Microsoft Office, Nero, Adobe, and many more. Besides just cleaning up behind your favorite applications it also takes care of Windows left-overs such as temporary files, logs, recycle bin and more. But it still does more than just clear out left over scraps and temporary files. It also is a powerful registry optimizer that is top notch.
CCleaner will safely remove dead links, missing shared DLL’s, invalid application paths, and more from your registry. (They can be left from old programs, upgrades, etc.) All that you have to do is click ‘Analyze’ then run ‘Cleaner’ and CCleaner does the rest for you. It also includes a nice tool to remove programs from Windows that works a LOT faster than using the ‘Add/Remove Programs’ from Windows control panel. Note: When you install CCleaner it will offer to install a Yahoo Toolbar. Just uncheck this box and your good to go.

CCleaner is fabulous, thank you. I also did the complete makeover on my computer you described in your ebook. Has run beautifully ever since.
One extra thing I did do. I felt a bit guilty not paying for CCleaner so I bought one sub for my computer (we have 3).
It just goes on defragging in the background the whole time and my computer has been on a song ever since. I think I’ll buy for the other two computers also.
It’s not expensive (forget how much) and well worth the money.

This is the first app that has actually speeded up my computer!!! I’m running windows Vista Home Basic, and it’s been getting slower until I ran CCleaner. My computer is noticeably faster and more responsive.

Need some info on “internal error 2349″. I have been running Word 2000 for quite a while. Suddenly, Word 2003 has taken over. Can I get 2000 reinstalled and not have 2003 come back?
